ECC Day 347: “Behind The Images”

My heart feels heavier than usual today. I discovered on social media that a person I know of from Portland died. When I lived there, was in her presence, & from what I’ve seen on social media since I moved, she lived & loved on a grand scale; she was outgoing, vivacious, adventurous, & cared a lot about people in her life. This is a reminder that what we see on social media does not fully reflect someone’s internal & external story & reality. This is a reminder of the importance that we check-in with our loved ones, beyond “likes” on social media, to learn how they are actually doing. Pick up the phone. Visit them. It’s a reminder that mental health and life’s challenges do not discriminate; anyone can be effected, no matter who you are. This is a loving reminder to reach out if you are struggling & need support getting through difficult experiences. Reach out to trusted & reliable people you can talk to; I invite you to include me on that list. Take time to reflect, get to know yourself on a deeper level; gather & try coping strategies to deal with life’s difficulties. If you are thinking about dying by suicide, please reach out to me, to us.National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255 a trained crisis worker is also available to talk 24/7. I love you. Rest In Peace, my friend.
